And the new money was flowing like cheap wine on Skid Row today, and (other than the time when Siber forgot to set daylight savings) it's been a very, very long time since I was welcomed with this screen at 3PM:

If you meant manitobia.ca, that's an old site with history, so I assume someone wants the traffic and backlinks.
On a day when there were atleast 4 good domains srvc.ca and centretownnewsonline.ca getting picked up in 1st and 2nd spot .. what can I say. I believe all for the backlinks. And then kuu-uscrisisline.ca and webetmascara.ca

In the absence of an ultra-premium, the order at the TBR is usually random due to the servers all be loaded with different names and no guarantee which one will hit.
That changes when there is an ultra-premium, as MyID will jack most/all of their servers with that domain at the top, guaranteeing that if they hit first, they will win that valuable domain. WHC is far more egalitarian, and serves their customer orders for the most part.
You can easily see this in the result patterns.
But yeah, for the most part people are buying some crazy crap at the top of the list, and I really hope they understand how drastically .CA differs from .COM when it comes to traffic, backlinks and history.

It was hard to get good domains to slip through the cracks previously, but with all this new money flowing in, it's almost impossible right now. As Esdiel told me, the "cracks just got a whole lot smaller".
And depending on how paranoid you are, I have tested and found patterns that say if you actually find a premium deep-dive domain, you might be better served by not placing a $20 min bid.
With MyId and WHC being the equivalent of DropCatch for the .CA, it's not worth placing any bids at $20 or $60 unless you are willing to fork out multiples. It's better to keep what you have and add through other modes.
2 of the domains I dropped were bid up for more than $100 and will end up in excess of $200 when dust settles. If I had put it up for sale, I wouldn't have even gotten a $20 bid. I suppose everyone likes it when it hits TBR and then to spend A LOT, rather than acquire & extend it's life.

Look at Dodger.ca - that one seems to hi the TBR every year, and gets picked up earlier and earlier. Last year I think it went in the 80's and this year it's matriculated up to 40th. Next year, maybe the 20's?
