Hello everyone,

I've come to realize that registering domains can turn out to be quite costly. It's not necessarily due to the registration fees themselves, but rather because even unregistered domains might have a checkered past. To ensure that I'm not inadvertently registering a domain with a dubious history, it seems I need to subscribe to one or more services, which combined could cost upwards of $100 or more per month.

Is there a more cost-effective method for individuals to comprehensively investigate a domain's history without incurring such high monthly expenses?

Thanks.

I concur with MapleDots @MapleDots in that, if I can find a great domain at cost, I don't care who owned it previously. Their loss is our gain. But I can kind of understand your concern in trying to know if the domain was used for adult or fraudulent purposes like spamming etc. But in most cases great domain names will have it's value over a period and you might be prudent not to waste your money on such services, rather using it to renew the domain for a longer duration.

But you are indeed a Sharp Canadian! ;)
