Normal baremetal post-registration TBR auctions. All three domains still showing $200 sale prices :(

smarter.ca valuations (smarter.ca ($200): up for auction!)
background.ca valuations (background.ca ($200): up for auction!)
loh.ca (loh.ca ($200): up for auction!

as always, scheduled auction close is 45 minutes into wednesday's TBR run. Anyone can join the auction, but there are some hoops to jump. Contact support@baremetal.com. If you've got a baremetal billing id, feel free to DM me a bid and a reminder of your billing id and I'll try to place the bid for you.

If worst comes to worst, I'll take one of these. :)

Apparently I committed a sin. I (Tom) am not a domainer. I do have a handful of domains that I have picked up from being in the trade (notably qu.ca), and if you folks had let smarter.ca go at $200, it would have become another one. What little $$ I have is in stocks. Even Vince outbid me on smarter.ca once the bidding finally started to happen. And the bid I did place was the first bid above $200 (no inside knowledge). And as for the long list of staff (two of us) at BareMetal. James is even less inclined to play the TBR game. In short, you don't have to worry about bidding against baremetal, or baremetal pushing the bidding up to your max-bid (you folks seem to do that to each other) ... I don't know if the buyer of circle.ca is here, but they could tell you there was a $1000 difference between their max bid and the price paid : ) ... Of course, at the end of the day, I (BareMetal hat back on now) am just another registrar saying "trust me" ... like all the others. : (

Most of the bm auctions sell to a small group of domainers. The bids will continue to be smallish until they increase their user base.

which might be why I've been posting them here... but the response has been under-whelming ... which is why I haven't posted totem.ca .... yet? We have some useability challenges, I'll be the first to admin that... which is why I've offered to take bids via direct messages (DM).

We have some useability challenges

Yeah I tried, I got in and bookmarked but then next time the link did not work.
I found it not impossible to participate but it left me frustrated at the usability aspect.

Also the extensions and having to come back multiple times does not work with my schedule.

At WHC, I set my max bid and I forget about it, I either get the domain or I don't. For the occasional one I really want I might sit through and go over my max bid but I can always count on the auction to end pretty close to schedule without having to come back the next day.

Not knocking it though because if I really want one I will come in, had smart.ca been available instead of smarter.ca I would have gone in regardless of what the price ended up being. I have quite a large budget set aside for single word domains but they have to meet specific criteria. Smarter would have been nice to have but smart would have been a must get.

So most assuredly, when I see a "must get" domain you will be hearing from me.

PS. Legend.ca was a must get for me, you would have had me knocking on your door if that one was at BM.

am i missing something? what are the usability issues? I type in baremetal.com (which firefox fills in after I type "ba"), click account, log in, click the TBR link and place my bids. It's fast and responsive, and honestly, faster than WHC as quite often there's an annoying lag when trying to log in there.

Sure, there could be some improvement tweaks, but it is very usable. I've always appreciated the simplicity and speed of the old school interface, many sites try to do too much with javascript which can slow things down and break links from working with right-clicks. The bulk tools are very good but could use two particular tweaks I've been hoping for forever, but otherwise its very good. With the size of portfolio I have, its really the most efficient system out there for managing my domains.

As for the auction process itself, I understand your point of wanting auctions to end around the same time once a week. However, I've missed the end of COUNTLESS auctions elsewhere because I got too busy or distracted with a call or family at the wrong moment. I never miss the end of baremetal extended auctions since I get a full 24 hours to find time to re-evaluate my position in the auction. If you can't find time within 24 hrs...

Sounds like it's going to be a fantastic week for me :-)

BareMetal.com > MyAccount > Login > Enter TBR > then stuck here

Frank doesn't have any domains here, and CIRA deletes any contacts that aren't associated with domains after a few months. So that's a "not very well integrated" hoop he would need to jump to place his own orders. (One which I expect to suppress in the next version.)

But since I place orders for him automatically for our post-reg auctions, all he has to do is click on that post-reg link highlighted in bright yellow. : )

As for "bid and forget it", that's already covered.

And that is the part I missed until now, was very odd before and I ended up just leaving.

Good to see things progressing (y)

The drop down above filters bids by week because there can be 3 weeks of bids in their, the previous weeks auctions, the current week's bids and sometimes even bids for the next week if I stumble on something early.
