Yeah, not sure what he meant by that. Maybe he misspoke?
I was reading some of the comments and it appears that it happened elsewhere as well…. Although, as Abraham once said, never believe everything you read on the internet.
It happened elsewhere as this is normal part of the process that the votes are first counted at the polling stations... The votes are already counted before they get to the regional office. Also, as stated in the comments, the media doesn't decide who wins, they just decide when they have enough info to predict ("call") a win.
The LIberals love gerrymandering and cheating like rats - the Carleton riding was also the location of a supposed "voter protest" where 91 names were on the scroll of a ballot (it was HUGE).
Obviously none of this was a coincidence, and I couldn't imagine the negative news coverage had the old Irish Carney been subjected to this type of political abuse. He'd be screaming "They're after me lucky charms!" til the cows came home.
How pathetic…poilievre couldn’t win his seat he had for 20 plus so someone who worked hard to get elected is going to give up their seat so he can try running there. I guess if you get enough chances…

Blame the Liberals for gerrymandering his riding like mad and setting up a fake voter protest that added 91 names to the ballot. I'm truly surprised he still ran with this kind of electoral abuse.
Obviously it was not a coincidence that this happened in Carleton and it was all smooth sailing for Carney in his riding.
With 52% of enrolled voters counted, The Poll Bludger has Labor ahead in 92 of the 150 House of Representatives seats, the Coalition in 43, the Greens in two, independents in 11 and others in two. In called seats, Labor is on 76 (already a majority), the Coalition 32, independents six and others two.
Labor has gained ten seats and the Coalition has lost ten, including Peter Dutton’s Dickson to Labor. It’s amazing that Labor has held the Victorian seat of Aston, which they had gained from the Coalition during Labor’s honeymoon period.
The Poll Bludger gives Labor a projected national two-party preferred vote of 54.5–45.5, a 2.4% swing to Labor since the 2022 election. Current primary votes are 34.7% Labor (up 2.3%), 30.5% Coalition (down 3.9%), 12.8% Greens (up 0.3%), 6.2% One Nation (up 1.3%), 2.0% Trumpet of Patriots (new), 8.1% independents (up 4.5%) and 5.8% others (up 0.6%).
I believe this election result was mostly because Dutton became too close to One Nation and Donald Trump for the Australian people to tolerate. Dutton would have done better to have stuck to the cost-of-living issue and avoided culture wars.
Pretty good speech. I don't think that's the beginning of the fall of Canada, its just a province standing up and demanding some fairness and respect out of Ottawa. I think all provinces outside of ON & QC can probably relate to that.
As those in the West say, 'Whatever the East wants, the East gets', especially Quebec, who has far more seats than they deserve and gets more government handouts and kickbacks than they can spend.
As long as that scenario remains the same, the West has a valid reason to explore separation.
