Negotiation only matters when you are in similar price range.

No amount of education is going to drag a lowball offer to a $250K sale.

This is essentially a quick way to weed out the tire kickers.

If the response had been "$100", the buyer wouldn't have been complaining about being disrespected, etc. It wasn't the brevity of the reply that upset him....
