Oregon’s fastest growing software company celebrated this year’s International Carrot Day (April 4) by announcing they have successfully acquired Carrot.com, a domain name the startup has eyed for years.

Helping to facilitate the $600,000 acquisition of Carrot.com was Name Ninja, a Toronto-based domain name brokerage firm that helps global companies acquire already-registered domain names.

congrats @MaiTaiMan how did that one slip by us way back in 2019, or did it?
This was covered quite extensively in the domain blogosphere back in the day. Of course I got criticized in some quarters for 'interfering' with an expired domain flowing to auction, but the former owner (a Toronto artist) had died and I was trying to help his estate out. In the end, the domain ended up in the hands of the estate (which Jamie Zoch and I worked on pro bono), and then they asked me to handle its sale to some very keen buyers, which I did. I also had to put up with a very obnoxious buyer broker who was harassing me and the lady who was the estate executor. This a**hole broker (who is infamous for his bullying tactics and dirty tricks) told me I would never get six-figures for the domain, that I was a fool to hold out for more, and that the days of one-word .com's selling for six and seven figures were ancient history. I made sure he saw the press release about the sale of the domain... ;+)

If I ever get into the one-word .com game, I'll be reaching out to find out who to avoid :)

Btw, Andrew Allemann covered this on DNW way back. Great episode and great work Bill (and Jamie)
