Real Name + Real Person (4.Viewing)

At dn.ca we are striving to become the most reputable .CA resource in Canada so to bring that to fruition we are trying to figure out some changes..

Today we are discussing the possibility of a REAL NAME + REAL PERSON function on DN.ca

This function would replace or enhance our current Verified feature with a new Secured Badge instead, or on top of a Verified Badge.

A Secured badge would indicate a user profile is 100% real to build the utmost in trust.

We used to have a Boardroom section which was accessable only by a specific group of members. We discontinued that section because 10-12 members did not generate enough content, but the idea was sound.

So we are thinking about a special section that would allow REAL NAME members to discuss, transact, exchange ideas away from the main members. It would also mean that those members could list private for sale topics amongst themselves to exchange, trade etc without fear of not knowing who they are dealing with. The SECURED Badge would be the highest level on the board and create instant trust when seen on a Public Sales Listing. Anyone doing anything untoward would lose the status.

Could even look at the idea of making a private setting where only Secured Members could see the details of other Secured Members.

At this point it is a discussion to evolve DN.ca from a straight public site to a place domainers can come privately discuss things affecting their business but in order to do that we have to assure those members vested to gain the trust of other domainers.

We can discuss all aspects of this SUGGESTED feature and implement it (or not) after thorough discussion.

For instance, I have my real name in my profile and users like @BillSweetman are using their real name with the business name or handle displayed underneath.

We are looking for ideas to standardize the process for SECURED Members to assure a consistent experience. It kind of would work like the old boardroom where only real personas have higher level access.

PS. Nothing would change for current members and the current setup, we would just add additional sections run for those domainers that actually want to converse in real business discussions with like minded domainers.

So which is it, real name in the profile or real name as your primary ID? Either or?

That's the discussion, also looking at the possibility that only real names can view real names profiles.

Am trying to create a trusted atmosphere for domainers to engage. Regardless of if it's behind the scenes it would be a big plus engaging in the market place with bigger ticket domains.

i don’t like either. i use my real name when replying to domain inquiries so i dont necessarily want them to find my posts here.
