On Dec 16, 2025, I purchased Discount Domain Club – Premium Membership for 1 year at $239.88.
At the time, this was the highest tier available and included access to Domain Academy + all Domain Academy software tools.
A few weeks ago, I lost access to the software tools, with a message stating, “You need a DDC Pro Membership to use Domain Academy software tools.”
Initially, I thought it was a bug, but after weeks of frustration, I emailed Joe Styler but received no response.
Last night, I spent 3 hours and 37 minutes on WhatsApp with GoDaddy support, with the following outcome:
- The AI assistant couldn’t resolve the issue and transferred me to a human guide.
- First GD Guide suggested I downgrade to basic DDC (which doesn’t even include Domain Academy). No understanding of the issue.
- Second guide finally acknowledged my DDC Premium plan, but said:
“You purchased DDC Premium, which is different from DDC Pro. That’s why you’re being asked to upgrade.”
Her “solution” was to cancel my current Premium plan mid-year (lose the $239.88 I paid) and re-purchase DDC Pro at $269.88.
I explained this was unacceptable: I already paid for a full year and only wanted the product I purchased.
After long back-and-forth, she said they cannot give me access again — the only option was to submit a ticket for a partial refund.
I repeated that I did not want a refund — I wanted the service I paid for. She still went ahead and submitted it anyway.
- A third guide (apparently a supervisor) came in, said a request had been submitted, and asked me to wait for the outcome.
Today I got an email from GoDaddy regarding ‘Need partial refund for dcc product due to product update issue’ ticket the GD Guide submitted last night.
“We are unable to approve this out of policy refund request. Please review our Legal Agreements.”
So to recap:
- I paid for the highest plan available at the time (DDC Premium, with Domain Academy included).
- GoDaddy removed access mid-subscription.
- Support told me to cancel my current Premium plan mid-year (lose the $239.88 I paid) and re-purchase DDC Pro at $269.88 – which I refused to do.
- Then the same GD Guide submitted a ticket for a partial refund.
- Then even that refund was denied.
- And I’m still left with no access to what I paid for.
This is unacceptable!

GoDaddy, this is shocking. Current customers shouldn’t lose access to paid services mid-subscription due to your product changes. Forcing us to cancel (lose the money) and pay more for the same tools is unfair. I’ve never experienced such poor customer service.
