I like .now better than .xyz personally but I think both are unstable considering they could reclassify any domain as premium at any time and Jack up your renewal costs.
I've always felt like getting into domains that have $500+ renewal fees is a road to certain bankruptcy.
One-word .xyz domains are hot, but real buyers respond more to meaning and use than cost.
