Using marketplaces is fine to get started, but here’s the ugly truth: you have ZERO control.
You can’t lead when someone else is dictating how you do business.
When you list on marketplaces, you hand over the driver’s seat. You become the passenger, playing by their rules.
Short term it’s fine. Long term, you’re boxed in, chained, and replaceable.
Now let’s talk about the stupidity of having WHOIS privacy on your own assets.
You literally become a pawn.
Instead of you, the rightful owner, getting the lead, some corporate drone with idiotic policies decides your destiny. WTF.
Then there’s the BIN pricing trap.
You start following “recommended” prices and “industry metrics” set by companies with agendas.
You think you’re flexing a high STR, but in reality, you’re getting robbed by commissions, manipulated by valuation tools, and influenced by “experts” whose opinions serve them, not you.
If you want real control, build your own lane.
Changing landers or jumping to a different marketplace won’t change anything if you don’t start thinking differently than the herd.
A great domain sells itself. The right buyer will find you no matter what lander you use.
My biggest and most life-changing deals came through WHOIS, not a broker, not a lander.
The domain investing market is in the toilet, with the average deal sitting around $1,775.
So what are you gonna do about it?
Are you going to regain control, or stay a sheep like the majority?
