Who rugged Whois? (1.Viewing)

One of the most used Whois sites has been showing .ca (and other extensions) as available for a number of months (on many searches but not all).

This problem extends to registrars like Namecheap/Spaceship as well.

I've tried making posts about it on reddit to get the attention of CIRA (as I'm assuming it's some issue on their end), but so far no luck. They previously denied there was an issue.

What do you think is going on here?

Yeah, I have had that at GoDaddy and namecheap but when you follow it through you eventually hit a wall.

On the subject of Whois though, I have always preferred the simplicity of who.is but mind you I use adguard so I don't see the ads.

It happens from time to time. reserved names show up as available for registration.

I use my own whois tool to check instead of at a registrar.

Could be a registry sync or cache timing issue

Seems to be a problem for restricted and reserved names. But I've also occasionally seen this for ALL .ca searches.
