Oh believe me I'm not taking part in this madness, and I don't care how 'Gambling Mad' Canada is right now, I still can't quantify some of these prices, especially as some rank very low in terms of SEO and backlinks, especially quality ones.

I think other registrars do go after them, especially those like anju or avana, that have alternative uses, but WHC allocates at TON of resources to winning them - to the point of ignoring traditional 'premium domains' for the retail market.

And from the consistently-insane prices we're seeing at auction, this decision makes clear business sense. Follow the money.
