'Twas the Night Before Launch'

'Twas the night before launch, when all through the house
Not a startup was stirring, not even a mouse.
The domain names hung by the registrar with care,
In hopes that red.ca soon would be there.

But the children (my devs) were nestled in bed,
While visions of traffic danced in my head.
And mamma in her hoodie, and I with my tea,
Had just settled our brains for a low-budget spree.

When out on the web there arose such a clatter,
I sprang from my desk to see what was the matter.
Away to the whois I flew like a flash,
Tore open the screen and threw up the cash

The moon on the breast of the new-fallen snow
Gave a luster of mid-price to the premium glow.
When what to my wondering eyes should appear
But a taken domain and the price caused a tear!

With a little old seller so lively and quick,
I knew in a moment he wanted a brick.
More rapid than eagles his price points they came,
And he whistled and shouted and called them by name:

"Now ten thousand! Now fifteen! Now twenty and higher!
On red dot ca premium set my wallet on fire!
To the top of the list! To the top of the wall!
You’ll pay what I ask or you’ll get nothing at all!"

As dry leaves that before the wild hurricane fly,
When they meet with an obstacle, mount to the sky,
So up to my budget the obstacles flew,
With a dream in my heart and a workaround too.

And then, in a twinkling, I heard in my mind
The click of a plan that was clever and kind.
As I drew in my head and was turning around,
Down the prefix "MY" came with a bound.

He was dressed all in code, from his head to his foot,
And his branding was shiny, though slightly off-put.
A bundle of features he had on his back,
And he looked like a founder just opening his pack.

His eyes how they twinkled! His code-base so merry!
His cheeks were like deadlines, his nose like a cherry!
A little wide mouth drew up in a grin,
And the beard on his chin was the color of win.

He spoke not a word, but went straight to his work,
And filled all the pages, then turned with a jerk.
And laying his finger aside of his nose,
And giving a nod, up the server he rose.

He sprang to his launch, to his team gave a whistle,
And away they all flew like the down of a thistle.
But I heard him exclaim, ere he drove out of sight

“Happy Launch to all, and to all a good night!
With myred.ca we’ll start out just fine…
And maybe someday we’ll buy red.ca in time!”
