Nice looking auction comimg up

I'm really not a fan of these 'Word+ED" domains, at least for the price they're liable to sell for. I've owned (and still own) some very popular ones, with massive real & potential usage, but they never, ever get a sniff. I just don't think businesses (even if their brand includes this Word+Suffix) want to own .CA domains like this that are a past/future version of the core verb, or at least not for any real money.

Of course, some have more potential than others, and Approved.ca may be saleable (loans, mortgage, etc.) to the exact right buyer, but it'll also probably sell at TBR auction for a pile more than it's actually worth, making it exponentially tougher to sell. Like I always say, with .CA you make money on the buy.

I view the phenomenon as similar to my 'First Name+S' domain experiment - I own a pile of top First Names with an added S, and these seem like they're extremely popular for small and medium-sized business, but literally no one ever inquires. And if they do, it's to offer $50 via CIRA email.

I think both are a case of "needing another word or words in there to make sense". Like a company called Balanced Accounting or Balanced Health or Balanced Life will probably want both words in their core domain, as the majority of these 'Word+ED' domains really don't work alone - it's the same with 'First Name+S' domains. For example, jacks.ca is in use for Jack's Autobody, but it just forwards to jacksautobody.ca - I've found this pattern to be common.

So yes, my 'Word+ED' and 'First Name+S' domain experiments have been an abject failure in terms of 'revenue vs expenditures', but I hope future participants have better luck than me.

Looks like a balanced list of quality and garbage

Strangely, I don't see anything on that list I'd go after at auction.

Something like Fallsview would be nice.... for $50-$60, but it's already at $80 (and rising) so I'm out. And as I posted earlier, I have more than enough "Word+ED" domains o_O and I don't need any more, so I guess that's the beginning and the end of that.

P.S. Where did all the SEO Traffic domains go? Is that fad now officially over?

Wow, you just can't get a deal at the WHC TBR auctions, and even the low-end crap is being bid up like mad. It's like the new Canadian Gold Rush and HBC (I mean WHC) is laughing all the way to the bank.

Not sure I understand the logic of this, assuming these are being bought for resale and are not traffic domains. o_O

I'm looking at Harnois for $1000 and Fallsview for $600 and wondering what planet I'm on, again, assuming this isn't just two existing companies fighting over their brand.

So you're saying that Harnois Energy bought it, or that some nitwits are targeting this company and hoping they can sell the domain to them.

If it's the latter, I want no part of that, as you're just inviting legal troubles.

What they sold for

Approved I can understand, but what's the big deal about Fallsview? I know there's a casino/waterpark, a few other businesses, and GEO-usage for it, but that price is still crazy. Putting down $600 on a domain like this would require you to sell it (at a 2% STR) for $30,000 just to break even. Good luck with that.

At that price, the casino would either just take you to court or maybe send a few of their bagmen over to rough you up.
