TBR Drop - Feb 4, 2026 (20.Viewing)

The new money entering the domain space doesn't think like this tho... ever heard of the "debasement trade"? The new formula is put down $600 on a domain and if it doesn't sell in 10 years it might be worth $800 wholesale.

It might be, as that's already happened with gold, real estate, collectibles, etc. but I'm not sure I would put .CA domains like this at the same level.

I still think a lot of it is newbies targeting significant entities like the Fallsview Casino or Harnois Energies, and if so, they could be in for a rude surprise.

You definitely could be right on both. Especially Fallsview but could Harnois be debatable? Harnois is a surname and according to my Google Translate, it mean harness in French. My French is non existent so maybe someone could chime in. :)

Premier Ford announced heavy investment to restore the Niagara Falls region and FallsView Casino does not own FallsView. I figured if a big hotel or tower ipens up they might want FallsView.ca but it was a gamble at best because most assuredly they would use FallsView Place, Inn, Hotel or something similar.

I figured a sub $500 acquisition with a 5k retail would sidestep that and probably sell it but to pay more than $500 (originally I had $250 in mind) was definitely not in the cards for me considering I would be targeting a small regional audience around the falls with no larger target audience available.

Exactly, and I never said this of domain is not worth owning as a lottery ticket, only that you don't want to spend too much on a gamble like this. .CA is not the same as .COM and it's a very small market with its own set of rules.

You contact Fallsview Casino about buying the domain and it you automatically got yourself a court date, and even if they come to you, saying you want $20,000 will result in the same legal snafu. Tread carefully and read some CDRPs to see how incredibly slanted this system is towards businesses and corporations.
