Atom: One Click and your client is gone (1.Viewing)

Domain Agents charges mandatory upfront fee for making an offer. They have been doing well. Lets see how this test goes for Atom.

Stopped using Atom

This "Deposit Upfront" scheme is definitely a bad idea, and since Atom has introduced it, my offers there have dropped to almost nil (I send all my traffic to Atom) and virtually all activity has switched to Afternic.

Before this, there used to be a 10:1 offer ratio comparing Atom to Afternic but now it's the other way around, or even worse. It's insane as 100% of my traffic is sent to Atom, and traffic is still high, so 'something' is stopping potential buyers from following through at Atom, so they are looking elsewhere for the domain.

And I do not understand the logic of inserting a paywall (even an optional one) in the offer stream. I get it that Atom is probably getting a lot of deadbeats, but this is kind of system that will scare away real customers, while the deadbeats will just bypass it and insert their latest billion dollar offer anyway.
