First AI's starting to shut down (9.Viewing)

We're probably going to see more of this.

I predicted a long time ago that .ai is going to crash because it's totally unnecessary.

A few big players will dominate the AI space and all the small wanna be AI companies will either get swallowed up or go out of business.

How many search companies are there?
How many viable social networks are there?
How many banks are there?

As you can see, history will repeat itself and before someone says but the self hosted AI... nothing will be self hosted, eventually they will not share the technology, the subscription model will take over every aspect of every industry imaginable. Nobody wants a one time fee, everyone wants to hit you once a week or once a month.

AI is going to crash because it's way too expensive and the only reason it exists is due to corrupt politicians allowing them "free power" and "free water" for a specified period of time (cough *kickbacks * cough). But they're running through electricity (some AI centers are using as much power as a large US city) and fresh water (using as much water as a small city) like crazy, which is causing some serious issues for us human beings.

These AI centers are totally unsustainable for real-world operation, and you'll see a lot of them close down once constituencies start forcing them to pay for their massively exorbitant use of electricity and fresh water.

And none of this is even covering the exploding price of hardware, which has gone up exponentially since AI data centers started exploding. Some graphics, memory and storage companies have even closed their consumer business in order to concentrate on selling exclusively to AI companies.

Open Source releases are already getting good. So many people just use Ai for simple things and a small ai model on device can do that. Next iOS Siri will let user choose the Ai model. And current iPhone already can run on device models.

When a user can choose to run the model on the device, no need for paid services.

Obviously a lot of money has been poured into the AI race, and there will be winners and losers.

But not enough money to sustain any of these AI data centers over the longer-term, so IMO, unless taxpayers continue to foot the AI bill I don't see there being many winners.

Whatever happens the future is getting real interesting in terms of AI and the rapid pace of technological innovation. Longevity and health is one interesting area, keeping people healthier and living much longer. There needs to be a focus on cures for sore joints and bad backs.
