Whc down? (1.Viewing)

Wanted to log in to WHC for some TBR stuff and although I was able to log in, I can't go to domains. When trying to open the "Domains" tab on the left rail it does nothing....

Wait, actually, after clicking around to other sections first, like hosting or servers, then clicking back to domains, then it finally worked.

Definitely some buggy stuff going on still...

I use it every day with Zero issues

Maybe its just a cache issue, I don't understand why you're having repeated issues unless it is something with the browser or an addon, something changing the code.

I'm not just saying that, I login multiple times daily, use the auction most every week and never have an issue.

I use chrome but I whitelist the WHC site from my adblocker

Does it crash or just do nothing (with the WHC page in the background)?

RLM is right that there are issues at WHC and for a while, whenever I would look at the Domain Details of several domains to check WHOIS, the system would hang and then crash out on me. I opened a ticket and it's been better, but every once in a while...

And my WHC login currently hangs for 10-20 seconds before it finally lets me in, when it used to be instantaneous.

I use firefox and the problem seems to be slow loading resources. Not always, like right now at 2am, no problems. But certain times, when the servers are busier, its as if the page initially loads the html template, but there are various AJAX calls in the background trying to fill in data needed (like your list of domains or the auction domains, etc) but those calls are timing out. And yes, slow log-in times too. I'm guessing db issues, probably certain slow queries are clogging up the available # of connections.

I gave up on Firefox, there were a number of critical sites I was using where Firefox would hang.

Most alternate browsers (except Firefox) us the chromium engine and I think that standardization causes less issues. Maybe download one of those browsers and compare for a week just to eliminate the Firefox scenario. I have found many flaws with the Gecko engine used by Firefox and the way it renders a webpage. I guess its not necessarily a flaw but different from chromium causing the flaw because most people no longer code for Gecko or even check it before releasing code.

I've tried all the major ones (I use Chrome usually) from Chrome to Edge to Firefox and it doesn't do anything for the extended login times. That's definitely a system issue as it just sits there like a turd. This started happening right after the fix for the non-claimable TBR domains was implemented, and prior to that, logging into WHC was instantaneous. Like "click" and it loads.

Are there no login delays on your end - you just click and you're immediately in the WHC system?

I make sure the STAY LOGGED IN box is checked, then it keeps me in for a few days.

I use this link: clients.whc.ca/nca/domains?limit=500&status=active,grace

I bookmarked it a while ago and I can't remember ever having an issue, I complained about constant logouts a few years ago but now I only log in once or twice per week.

I just tried that link and it took me 22 seconds to get in, with most of the delay due to WHC (vainly) trying to load data from chat.whc.ca.

And I don't see any "stay logged in" box on that link, just "remember me". That does nothing as I need to log back in the next session.

I have had no issues with the TBR and none recently with Domain Details since they fixed it, but logging into WHC is like watching paint dry.

I get fairly frequent “who goes there” looking for a code they mail me but doesn’t bother me as I see that as a security measure.
Other than that it is relatively reliable.

That happens when your router cycles to a new IP address, (due to tech issues, power failure or firmware update) and WHC is just confirming you're at the new IP.

Well I had no problem logging in today or accessing the auctions.
And I've never had cross browser issues, I also have chrome and safari installed and sometimes use them for specific reasons. The problems, when they happen, are definitely an issue with WHC's pages loading resources in the background, not cross-browser issues.

Never had an issue with WHC and using Chrome, super happy with their UI and overall experience. I think it must be something on your end...
