Just came across this, not sure when it was added but it's news to me. The at-cost pricing is tempting, but I’ll likely stay with Canadian registrars for my .ca domains. Even so, maybe this is the kind of pressure that gets some of them to update their systems and catch up a little.

Honestly I didn't even look, their shtick has always been domains at cost, so that's what, $10 cad? Personally I'll pay more and stick with Canadian companies. I do give them credit for recognizing value in this market though.

We might need to factor in sales tax. My Cloudflare billing address is in Ontario, but when I try to place an order with the Cloudflare registrar, it doesn’t charge any HST. I think Canspace and WHC are required to charge sales tax, though, so that could add a small difference compared to Cloudflare, depending on where you are.

Wholesale is $10.50. The price is good compared to most, but it's definitely not wholesale, and definitely not the cheapest. It would take very generous CC fees and FX fees to get from $10.50 to $12.59 - or if GST/HST were hidden in the price. And I'd be claiming back the GST/HST anyways, so its a non-factor for me, in fact I'd be pissed if the taxes were hidden in the price and not shown on the invoice so I could claim it back as an ITC.

In general, cc fees and fx are basically a stupid tax, I'd only work with a Canadian based business, billing in CAD. But note that I'm thinking from the perspective of a large .CA portfolio. For the odd domain you need at cloudflare, then obviously its trivial.

I concur with rlm @rlm any legit domainer gets HST back and it's irrelevant. I find the pricing on new registrations to be decent with our top registrars but the renewals always suck.

The registrar that offers the best renewal rates at wholesale is the place to be, assuming they meet all the other domainer friendly criteria.

That said landing pages with a basic contact form would be nice too, I know I was talking with the owner of WHC about that. No results there to this time and I know NamesPro has a basic basic basic lander but if I were a registrar I would focus on that to win business.
