Kantar Media has transformed into Fifty5Blue after a $1 billion acquisition, introducing a new brand identity and increasing investment in AI to improve its measurement services.
This is my guess of how that went down:
Head of Marketing:
(quietly hoovers up a pile of Fifty5Blue.{TLDs}, then strolls over with a cup of tea)
I say, old boy, would you mind terribly registering the matching TLD domains for our splendid new company name before the whole thing leaks and the vultures descend?
IT Chap:
You’re not going to believe this, mate, but they’ve already been registered.
Head of Marketing:
Already registered? Bloody hell. Those cyber-squatting bastards really are a pack of absolute tossers, aren’t they?
Right then, nothing for it. Best find out what the damage is.
IT Chap:
Five grand each.
Head of Marketing:
Five grand? Christ alive.
Still, I suppose it could be worse. Could’ve been some right villain asking fifty.
Fine. Make it happen.
IT Chap:
Sorted.
Head of Marketing:
Brilliant. Good man.
Oh, and by the way, I’m off on holiday next week. Back in a fortnight or so.
Cheers!
