TBR page is an improvement. Looks way cleaner and easy to read the domains.

Yikes. CIRA is empire building again, stretching their monopoly way beyond their mandate to manage the .CA domain registry for all Canadians. And claiming that "we are canada's internet" is a really big stretch (i.e. an outright lie and falsehood). God forbid the day that CIRA or any other single entity is anyone's complete internet.

Canada runs on .ca

It's more accurately reflects what CIRA does but I guess it's how you interpret things.

That said the CDRP section seems to be MIA, if someone can find the link please post it so I can change the shortcut on the front page.

Don't be so sure. Maybe this is a not-so-subliminal message convincing you they already control Canada's internet so that when they attempt to expand into other services you'll think they already did it anyway and just accept it.
 
I find the TEXT SIZE absolutely huge and I'm running on a 15" 1664p (3:2) Surface laptop - can't imagine what this looks like at a lower-rez - I get around 16-17 TBR domains per standard screen - how many do you get on 800p, 8?

You be scrolling all day. :D

And why is there not a Date Filter to separate the weekly TBR lists? You'd think someone would add that feature in an update.

I think that they have actually done a really great job with the website. It certainly follows the modern visual trends and I think .CA is going to be more attractive to younger Canadians as a result.

Just take a look at visual overhauls of TheVerge or ZDNet. They all go for the structurally funky flow, scaled up typography, large navigation.

I don't disagree in terms of overall design, but I don't think the "scaled up typography" is optimal when displaying raw data like the TBR domains. Data doesn't need to be big & pretty, it just needs to be functional.

Decisions like these are most likely based on actual website usage data. If the percentage of users who visit the website on mobile devices (tablets, smartphones) is growing, then going for scaled up typography is the right move. The website looks amazing on mobile devices and it's a lot easier to view and tap the needed link now when you are viewing the site on a small screen.
 
If more people are doing their TBR research and ordering using their phone than those on on a laptop/desktop, then I wish them luck.
 
I don't find that it looks bad on a big screen either. It's easier to see the domains.

But it's like this with everything when it comes to any changes. You can please everyone all of the time. I don't like adjustments to my flow, too, but change was inevitable at some point.
 
I just won't use the CIRA site at all for even quick looks at the TBR and stick with Excel for everything now.

I still have excellent eyesight and this HUGE FONT makes me feel like I'm back in kindergarten and is very ill-suited for TBR data presentation and consumption. But I guess Grampa loves it!

'Nuff said, and it's back to work.
 
Only thing for me is that they broke the cardinal rule for links on CDRP, effectively leaving all old links unusable.

A quick wild card URL forwarder would have fixed that.

I should mention that I like the new WHOIS page a lot better than the old one.

Do they even update it like before?? Looks like there is a bug. Only 2909 domains so far.. and it's Friday already. Either everyone is renewing these days or there is a bug in the new system and I have a strong feeling it is the later. Will someone from CIRA fix that bug??

Hmm, we show 4842 domains, which almost matches the 4844 domains CIRA shows now.
 
Yep, they must have hit the UPDATE button.
