CIRA election 2023 (1 Viewing)

Can someone post a link to the voting page.

I'm having real issues navigating the cira site.
You should be receiving an email with the subject line "CIRA board election: cast your vote" that contains a link to this site: Internet Voting along with an ID and PIN that you need to use in order to cast your vote.

OK, I remember that from last time but have not received that yet.
The elections are running to October 4th, so there still is some time. If you don't receive it at all, I suggest reaching out to the membership helpdesk CIRA at 1-877-860-1411, or by email at member.services@cira.ca .

Did anyone attent the AGM today which still going on???

Has cira’s website been bugging out for anyone else trying to vote? Pages and logins seem to take forever to load, if they load at all. I think I finally voted but there was also an error at the very end after submitting.

I finally got my voters email but like you the hangs forever, I never managed to get through at all

I tried several times

@richard.schreier

Yes. For me too. Tried several times.

I was able to vote yesterday. They're probably overloaded, with too many people wanting to vote at the same time.....

I doubt it. It couldn't have been that people in numbers trying to vote throughout the day. There were only 132 people attending the AGM yesterday.

I am here at the computer at 6.40 am trying to vote, to beat the huge traffic of CIRA members wanting to vote still getting this:

I'm still struggling too. This morning I always seem to get the captcha text wrong and/or I get an error like: "Your request could not be completed at this time. Please verify your credentials and attempt to log in again. If this problem persists, please contact info@cira.ca."

This might be because I already successfully voted yesterday, and therefore cannot login again, but I'm not sure. Are we supposed to get an email confirmation after voting?

I have no idea @Esdiel

Even yesterday they were using a new platform for voting and there was no confirmation if our votes were registered.. but there were numbers they published which no one knows. May be that is the same platform they are using for this too. It's a shame that one does not know if their vote counted or not. Reminds me of the American election!!!

@Eby when you placed your vote you would have received a confirmation screen that the vote was indeed received and processed

That screen disappears, or there is always the risk of an ad blocker.

May I suggest an email to confirm your vote was indeed placed and registered.

It would go a long way to easing my mind that the vote actually happened, especially because the site seems to hang and I remember thinking last time that an email confirmation would be nice to have on file.

I should probably add that I had the same problems when I tried voting for Frank’s nomination a month ago. Not sure if others had problems then too.

I eventually got to the ballot page but things also went bonkers after submitting my vote, so I wasn’t 100% certain if I actually casted my ballot or not.

I contacted cira for help with that, but only last minute on the last day… so I didn’t have time to sort things out before the deadline (oops). In any event, I obviously did successfully cast my ballot then since I got the email to vote in the actual election yesterday. But now the whole situation/scenario is repeating itself again.

@FM My biggest concern with the direction CIRA is that they are ignoring the domain registrants and treating the reg and renewal fees like a cash cow for special projects, travel, and unnecessary memberships. CIRA is running a huge deficit and spending money unnecessarily.

The platform that CIRA used for the 2023 AGM failed to show my motion to reduce travel and membership costs to attendees. Was this by design?

Zoom meetings would have been more equitable and user friendly.

@davidm I was very happy to see you and your questions at the CIRA AGM; thank you for being there. You have some valid points.

Regarding the motion, I'm not sure, to be honest, what the process is here and why it didn't work, you would best ask CIRA directly about it.

While I understand that Zoom would be easier to use, I understand that there may be specific requirements for a technological platform that aren't fulfilled by Zoom directly.

That was an effort and a half

For a company that harps on technology I have to say this has been a very poor experience, the time outs and page hangs over the course of two days continued right to the end. It was difficult and time consuming to vote at all.
