Don't be a Yahoo in domaining! (2 Viewing)

When I was shopping and saw Yahoo!-branded stereo equipment, DVD players and other electronics sitting on the shelf (and later in the clearance bin) I knew this company had absolutely no clue what they were doing.

If fairness, I don't think Google would have become what they did if Yahoo acquired them.

The 2016 sale to Verizon was only a part of what the "Yahoo Corporation" owned.

Their part ownership of Alibaba and Yahoo Japan apparently got them another ~$57 billion:

So after factoring inflation, an investor in 2008 did later get approximately what Microsoft offered.

Of course, Yahoo was still mismanaged, and they got lucky with the Alibaba investment gain.

They apparently also could have bought Facebook for $1.1 billion, but only offered $1 billion:

It's too bad Yahoo didn't buy Facebook, which probably would have then stagnated... the world would be a better place without what Facebook has done in later years.
