Epik can't pay any of its users right now (14 Viewing)

He also doesn't answer silentg's question, so maybe he didn't get paid... the domain is still for sale and is still at epik too.

His personal website/domain is also hosted/held by Epik. Could just be one of their employees too.

Its time for me to acknowledge that I believe myself to have been victimized by whatever seems to be going on at Epik.com
I have said nothing out of respect for Rob Monster who I believed myself to have had a relationship with
It was because of my relationship with Rob that I placed a number of domain names in the custody of Epik and made a significant financial deposit to a fund payment of future renewals
While I have placed orders for the renewal of my domain names, those renewals are not being processed however the funds I have on account have been debit for that purpose.
Fortunately, as someone who is familiar with this space I am not too concerned about my domains as I think they will be saved. My money is likely gone. I worry not for me but for the uneducated mom or pop shop that has a domain or website at epic and who doesn't have any knowledge or insight as to how these things go down. Those people will be in the dark and suffer a lot of stress. ICANN should step in.
I know my money is gone but I have a voice and people who know me know Im not afraid to use it
I dislike injustice in general
I have tried my best to live this business forward in an honourable way over the last 25 years
I have tried to help others understand the value of domains and success in the business and have never asked for anything in return
I am asking now for your support
Not to help me get my money back or my domains saved or even my renewals paid but to stop this from happening to someone else someone who would have no idea where to turn to for help
I ask that you follow me for a while on Twitter
I ask that you RETWEET anything I say about EPIK that rings true for you and feels right to you
I appreciate your support....not for me....I'll be fine.....but for your support of those who have no way figure this out and help themselves
PLEASE RETWEET and THANK YOU

Thanks for speaking up. No one wants to see more victims.

It is clear that Epik is no longer able to carry out the most basic functions of a registrar.

I quote tweeted two of your tweets, and shared all of them on namepoos.

For others in this situation, you might want to consider filing complaints with authorities.

If Epik has screwed you over financially -

Here are the business registrations if anyone needs them for reference -

LLC = Limited Liability Company

A company structure is unlikely to protect personal assets if there is fraud, misappropriation of funds, or other corporate abuses...commingling escrow funds for instance.

Or how about using an internal currency scheme to turn actual money into worthless magic beans, which you stick customers with.

The concept is called piercing the corporate veil.

Piercing the Corporate Veil: When LLCs and Corporations May be at Risk

When Courts Will Pierce the Corporate Veil

Courts might pierce the corporate veil and impose personal liability on officers, directors, shareholders, or members when all of the following are true.
  • There is no real separation between the company and its owners. If the owners fail to maintain a formal legal separation between their business and their personal financial affairs, a court could find that the corporation or LLC is really just a sham (the owners' alter ego) and that the owners are personally operating the business as if the corporation or LLC didn't exist. For instance, if the owner pays personal bills from the business checking account or ignores the legal formalities that a corporation or LLC must follow (for example, by making important corporate or LLC decisions without recording them in minutes of a meeting), a court could decide that the owner isn't entitled to the limited liability that the corporate business structure would ordinarily provide.
  • The company's actions were wrongful or fraudulent. If the owner(s) recklessly borrowed and lost money, made business deals knowing the business couldn't pay the invoices, or otherwise acted recklessly or dishonestly, a court could find financial fraud was perpetrated and that the limited liability protection shouldn't apply.
  • The company's creditors suffered an unjust cost. If someone who did business with the company is left with unpaid bills or an unpaid court judgment and the above factors are present, a court will try to correct this unfairness by piercing the veil.

Commingling assets. Small business owners may be more likely than their larger counterparts to commingle their personal assets with those of the corporation or LLC. For example, some small business owners divert corporate assets for their own personal use by writing a check from the company account to make a payment on a personal mortgage -- or by depositing a check made payable to the corporation into the owner's personal bank account. This is called "commingling of assets." To avoid trouble, the corporation should maintain its own bank account and the owner should never use the company account for personal use or deposit checks payable to the company in a personal account.

Here is a summary of the main part of the lawsuit.

The buyer sent Rob $327,000 in May 2022 to buy the domain Nourish.com.

Rob never transferred the domain. Rob never refunded the money.

The buyer kept being strung along first by Rob Monster then by Brian Royce.

According to the lawsuit, Epik acknowledged the funds were misappropriated, embezzled, or both, leading to an inability to pay.

Yes, they are good with credits, anything does does not involve giving back the money.

I don't think there is any malice there, I honestly think the growth for Epik was too fast and there is an issue with cash at the moment. They have bought out a lot of companies and have a lot of staff and all that costs money.

Personally I hope they sort it out, I don't like the idea of the domaining space losing another registrar and I was hoping to have an alternative to paypal.

I will be watching all this unfold very closely and I am hoping it works out for the best.

All that said, I would not risk my high value domains or a high value transaction there at the moment.
BULLSHIT

THE CREDITS ARE WORTHLESS

I have tried to renew my names and can not

I think a lot has changed since @MapleDots made that comment.

The problems have become much worse, and there have been many complaints about registrations and renewals not being processed in a timely manner, if at all.

At this point it is hard to not attribute malice when it comes to what is going on.

Epik has shown no empathy or care for the string of victims they have created.

If the allegations in the lawsuit are accurate, this scheme goes back to well before Rob was replaced as CEO.
