I have been working with CatchDrop for a number of months to develop a showcase Big Box at dn.ca

The ad was developed to showcase the potential of a Big Box, not only can it display a static image or animation but it can now also fully execute code. This means you can make the ad as interactive as you like. The example in the side bar is fully interactive with several links taking you back to CatchDrop auctions. The most surprising part of the ad is that on a touch screen you can actually scroll through the domains that have bids at catchdrop without ever leaving dn.ca. So you can watch the scroller, click a domain or scroll the scroller by hand. This makes the ad box one of the most innovative ways to showcase your products or services on dn.ca. The ad is visible full size both on desk top and mobile so you get the best of both worlds.

Additionally, unlike regular ads that are automatically blocked by ad blockers, these ads are not blocked because they are not designated as ads.

I find the big boxes work great for breaking up text on mobile as well. It divides the sections with a nice graphic without intruding on the experience like some of the expanding google ads. I had to install a custom script to assure none of that happens on mobile.
