We all know that 4 letter .com's rarely sell for a lot unless they are a word, pronounceable, have a hidden meaning, or are a direct abbreviation for a company name.

So SKKN.com changed hands late last year and little did they know that......

KIM KARDASHIAN WEST
FILES FOR 'SKKN' TRADEMARK ...
KKW Beauty's New Look???

Kim Kardashian could be signaling a new identity for KKW Beauty ... because it looks like she's getting ready to launch a new beauty line with a new name.

Kim’s company filed trademark docs to lock up the rights to “SKKN” — which looks like a new beauty line she presumably plans to launch. The "KK" in the middle is likely a reference to Kim's initials.

According to the docs, obtained by TMZ, KK wants to slap the name on products for hair care, makeup, skin care, nails and other products in the beauty world. We're told the trademark wasn't just filed in the US, but globally as well.

What's more -- we've learned SKKN.com and @SKKN social media handles were all locked down by Kim's team in December 2020 -- so clearly, the project has been in the works for a long time.

OK maybe the headline needs so say someone made a killing on skkn.com *BRAVO*

Realistically though 4 letter .com's can be bought relatively cheap unless they have a real meaning. Whoever sold that one probably had no idea who he was selling too.

Agreed, as that is not even pronounceable so she probably got it for a song.

Yup I was pretty sure I checked it before I announced it.

Looks like skkn.com is for sale at Uniregistry and now that the Kim Kardashian has announced she is seeking a trademark the .com will probably increase 100 fold in price because it predates the trademark and if the owner is aware of skkn and the kardashian connection then he is sitting on a million dollar deal.

Well the fact they are reporting that she picked it up during the holidays and that I see it updated on December 19th it’s safe to say she most likely has it. In regards to the parked for sale page I don’t know how many times I’ve sold domains and the name servers stayed the same for years.

Nope, it was already sold - it's right there in the article and this is just an all-too-common case of the new buyer not being ready to launch yet, and has just left the old nameservers unchanged.

This happens ALL the time with domain sales.

"SKKN.com from worthless to billion dollar brand – Wow! You have to love real-world success stories for domain name assets that sold and were developed into large scale operations. Check this one out!"

I guess they are talking about the "world-class" parking page SKKN.com is on? I wouldn't call this a real-world success story for domain name assets...

https://kkwbeauty.com/ will be switching to skkn.com and that stands for:

Skin with Kim Kardashians initials KK replacing one i

It’s really nothing to be excited about. So what she purchased SKKN for peanuts? It doesn’t matter if the owner knew who it was. As much as people think that knowing who buyer is will impact the price, it really doesn’t.

Every buyer has a budget. Sure, they’re trying to get it as low as possible. But she wasn’t paying millions for that domain or else they would have acquired KKW.com instead of KKWBeauty for their initial brand.

The point I am trying to make more than anything is...

Know your end user, it is yet to be determined what the 4 letter .com sold for but I would be killing myself if I sold it for 4-5 hundred bucks and then saw it used for Kims Cosmetics.

You can buy pretty decent 4 letter .coms on namepoos for under $500. and I have a pronounceable myself, which I would never sell without knowing exactly what the end user was going to be.

Difference would have been fairly dramatic, and I can assure you with the full rebrand Kim is doing she would have ponied up for the domain had it come to that.

Hey Frank,

TM or not, that is obviously a bad faith reg, imo.
No real way to justify it.

Peace,
Cy
