It is very quiet in here. May be everyone is busy celebrating Valentine's Day.

But remember, Roses are red, Violets are blue, Sugar is sweet, but not as sweet as Domains.

Looks like it was a great day for both WHC and Baremetal. Congratulations Frank and Tom.

Pretty ironic that the biggest rat of the .ca space picked up rat.ca. They will most likely hang on to that one for themselves.

Holy crap did I spend too much money on the TBR this week - there were just way too many mid-range lottery tickets in the same basic quality range, so I just decided to preorder them all.

And then a couple of pending domain sales were also cancelled yesterday night, so my balance sheet doesn't look too good this month. Luckily I picked up a some 55-cent packs of KD yesterday.

Did anyone catch what XJ went for? I was so busy at 1PM that I totally forgot to look.

Vegan.ca was dropped (presumably by accident) by the folks at Veg.ca. Will be interesting to see what happens if/when they realize their mistake. Good luck to the folks duking it out in auction. On a related note, guess which Canadian domain broker is a vegetarian?

I believe XJ.ca went for $1015

I know the letters are pretty bad but this is really low for a 2L.

Could it have gone for more at CatchDrop or WHC? Since they now have open auctions. I don’t recall the last time a 2L went for this cheap.

I have no issues buying a TBR domain that was accidentally dropped. Dropped is dropped, it just means I have my first potential end user.

If you let your storage locker expire it's the same thing. Also your property tax, you lose your house.

It won't deter me duking it out.

It's a very bad letter combo (J's at the end of LLLs are death) but I do agree that it's still low.

I really think Friday is a terrible day to hold auctions, as I usually have a pile of work to do before the weekend, and it's more difficult to schedule a free block for domain auctions.

In fact, this happened to me yesterday. Even though I had a phone alarm for 12:50, I just closed it, made a mental note to check before 1, and went back to work, but when I looked up at the time it was 1:10.

Wednesday or Thursday auctions are always going to be better for me.

It's really not the same thing as only the registry owns the domain. In terms of rights, you might be talking about the UDRP and not the CDRP, as the Canadian version is extremely slanted towards their corporate overlords and panelists regularly steal back domains like this for their previous owner.

It really comes down to whether Veg.ca wants to go that route and collect a pile of Claude Freeman lookalikes as panelists, or just pay the toll to get it back. Ask $100K for Vegan and I'm pretty sure of the route they'll take. And I'm very sure if it goes that wat you'll hear something similar to "On the balance of probabilities the respondent must have known that the complainant was the prior owner of such a high-profile domain name..."

And you might just win, but I really don't need the extra hassle or stress. If it was another TLD or a cheaper price, but not an expensive .CA with a fixed-game CDRP chock full of corporate-pandering panelists.
