TBR Drop - Mar 22, 2023 (2.Viewing)

Something is borked. You might notice 73.ca is NOT listed in the results.

Check your list of wanted domains, some of them may well be AVAILable.

I just picked off a few (like 73.ca) that we had orders for, and which CIRA said were "in progress" ... but showed up as available after the run.

Yes, I have questions in with CIRA @richard.schreier ... and likewise I am holding off on billing / invites.

True, @bmetal , during the drop, it looked like 73.ca went elsewhere, but then in the results, it was missing. Usually, this is the case when the domain was registered with an invalid contact, and it then moves to next week's drop. But as whois and you say, you were apparently able to register it later.

I just noticed that. Good job.

At 4PM I usually try to hand-register anything I ordered, but was never picked up (it happens to me a lot for some reason) but I got caught up in other stuff and kinda forgot my usual routine.

I wouldn’t have thought 232 would get taken this week but they did:unsure:

I don't think any of these even got registered as they had old 2023 expiry dates on them.

I posted about it earlier about it as I was checking the WHOIS to figure out what happened. Probably 2 simultaneous bids cancelling out, and often these domains do pop up with the regular expired as I've grabbed several that I had on prior order lists but never went through.

I forgot to check this week as I was busy, otherwise I might have made off like a bandit.

I also had two domains in the queue but both were not registered during the TBR window. However, they have now been registered by others, after the TBR ended by Non-TBR participating Registrars. I saw 73.ca not get registered but now I read that it was.. what????

@richard.schreier I would send the domain names directly to you to investigate.

BTW, 73.ca is NOT one of those domains - just to be clear.

This happens a bit here and there, but I guess it's just my junk domains so no one else notices.

I once emailed Tom when something like this happened and he stated that it looked like 2 bids collided and neither order got it. So I sat around at just after 4PM hammering the Domain Search button until it came up as available and I registered it. Had that same thing happen a few other times, and these simultaneous-bid domains usually floated out with the other expired domains, like Han Solo and crew drifted away with the Imperial garbage.

The only difference today is that something a bit more premium got hit (73.ca) and suddenly everyone is surprised.

From what I heard from CIRA and other members here, is that when a domain name that is in the TBR list for that current week doesn't get registered when a request/submission is made by a CIRA certified Registrar, the domain automatically gets pushed to the next week. But this was not the case today.

Therefore needs a bit of a digging to do.

In my experience, it can go either way.

Trust me, I have pre-ordered domains (that probably me and one other guy wanted) that didn't process and I have later found and hand-registered them at 4PM. This has happened to me maybe 4-5 times (more if you count the ones I lost), but it's certainly not an ultra-rare occurrence or anything.

"it is official" ... from an email from CIRA to registrars...

To all registrars who participated in today's TBR (Mar 22, 2023). We are currently
investigating the possibility that technical issues may have occurred that prevented the
correct registration of domains on a first come first serve basis. For those registrars
that have successfully acquired domain names either during or immediately following the
TBR session, please do not process any further as we determine what (if any) further
action may need to be taken.

myID did not pick up enough domains ------ we need to start again :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:

LOL, took the words right out of my mouth.

But I think this has more to do with the stragglers that didn't process and dropped into expired for hand-registration. At least I hope so.

On the other hand, if MyID does whine and get the CIRA to process the entire TBR run again next week then... :devilish:

I'm betting that the "technical issue" was several of the vacuum tubes on the MyID server blew up, which through no fault of their own, resulted in them not winning enough names.

Seriously, why when there is a "problem with the TBR run" it's always to do with MyID?

We temporarily blocked claiming domains at WHC, not much more at the moment we can do until there is an update from CIRA.

What about the auctions? Are they frozen / blocked as well?
Nothing we could easily do this evening, but I'm writing to the developer at the moment who's got the most experience with this, he usually starts early in the morning.

Not fast enough for me. LOL

Thank God auctions at myid don’t end until Friday. Let’s hope we can get them their quota by tomorrow so we can move this week along.

I'm thinking they're looking for either Boy or Andrew, along with 73 and a few LLLs. That should just about do it.
