Next you're gonna want Frank to tuck you in at night with a warm glass of milk.

I will bet you bottom dollars that an email 15 minutes (to all auction participants) before the end of an auction would increase sales for WHC.

This is not the first time I was distracted and missed it, I run a number of websites and it's hard to stay focused with dozens of open tabs. I get distracted, then the phone rings and before you know it the auction is over. I hear a bleep from my phone when I get an email and that would focus me back.

So yes, I will take the warm glass of milk with an email please 🥛

I lost out on all the big and medium auctions, but I'm pretty happy with the domains that just fell in my lap.

I totally understand what's going on and it comes down to a difference in semantics.

I do not see an erroneous early shot at a TBR domain before the actual runs starts as "a pick" because no transaction happened and no domain was selected. The company who mistakenly went before the run started can't go again with that link until 5 seconds later, at which time this penalty factor won them a far worse domain. Agreed.

But I still feel that any domain caught within 0 seconds and 5 seconds remains a First Rounder, albeit with quality dropping as you get to the end.

I do get what you're saying from a "TBR link perspective" and you view each link as a pick and if that link goes early, then it's gone for that round. I look at it strictly from the "0 to 5 seconds" and "one pick per link" rules (neither of which have bene broken), and as no domain was selected, these "early birds" instead get pushed to the "back of the bus" but still within the 5 second limit for the first round.

Semantics.

I think we're used to thinking that there were physical 5 second rounds - which do not actually exist, it just appeared to. So we're stuck in that mindset. Like Tom said, it was that connection's 2nd attempt, therefore I think it would indisputably be called a failed first round pick, but a successful second round pick.

If I had to guess, 90% of all "picks" in the first so-called "round" are presumably wasted due to the blind pick system, either too early or too late (picking a domain that was already registered).

RIB, MIO and Sweep all look like pretty sweet deals by comparison.
Yeah, mio was shockingly cheap. Nice pronounceable brand name.

How come the one word I want out of the pack is the one that goes for 2-3X the other words. And there is really no quality difference between them.

I guess the difference might be that I'm bidding on it and the top bidder will literally bid anything.
It aint you, its simply a fantastic domain name. And FUUUUDDDDGGGGEEE. I missed out on Stem, one of you lucky b's got it! I just got the invoice from WHC and the amount didn't have enough digits.

Yes, always nice to get a walk, bunt, single. Those pay the bills... But stem is a grandslam waiting to happen. Congrats to someone, if they want to fess up.

An email 15 minutes before auction ends would probably have drawn me into this one.
We're currently sending that at 11 am. Might consider adding another one, maybe :)

The tbr auctions on whc.ca are not extending the time after new late bids…please check it out.
Happen last week as well .it’s not adding additional time.

😫

I thought I was imagining that
Can you please DM/email me with examples? I've received an a ticket about this today, but when I looked at the details, there was no extension because the previous bid came in before the last 3 minutes of the auction.

In general, timing should get better between the browser and our servers in the next two weeks as a new auction interface version is being tested.

did I get stem? or no? that's a thing I don't like at WHC, I get an "outbid" notice by email, but not a "win" notice like you get from MyID. So I was in the lead on the auction, walked away to deal with the honey-do, come back and now I have no way of telling if I won or lost. The auction just disappears. I guess I've got to wait until I see if I get an invoice or not?
We can consider adding that, but it might take a bit.

whoops. wrong thread. (can't delete, but can edit) (current and upcoming labels need to be changed!)

Does anyone know what the BM auctions closed at today?

I was very busy today and totally missed the end.
