Exactly! As much as we love having great names to bid on, these weak TBR lists tell me that Canadians currently see value in their .ca domains and are paying to renew them.
 
It could also mean that there has been an increase in whale domain investors contacting owners of soon-to-expire domains looking to buy.

That results in 3 potential scenarios:

1) the domain owner says no and renews it as usual
2) the domain owner didn't realize it was expiring and renews it due to the contact email
3) the domain owner agrees to sell

Those last 2 definitely can have a negative impact on the number of expired domains hitting the TBR.

If I have some time I might run some WHOIS queries and try to find some premium domains that are expiring in the next month, and then follow them through and see if any change hands. Again, if I ever get the free time...
 
With zero premium (or even close) names on this week's TBR list, it looks there is some early competition for Personalized, CollingwoodHomes, Experienced, and Talkie.

I like CollingwoodHomes out of all of them but you’re right, pretty slim pickings this week and the last few weeks.

I don’t even recall the last standout name that has dropped over the last 3 weeks or so.

It's been pretty bad lately, but this week takes it to entirely new lows.

I didn't like the ending price, but both Leather and FIL were viable domains, as was Marco the week before and Mane/3S a couple weeks ago, but this week?

Nothing, Nada, Zippo that I would go to auction on.
 
Looks like we have some more activity, and the only one that was on my pre-list was CAER.ca, which didn't pass my tests but at least it's aged (2001).

I'm not a big fan of plurals, but I did have DARCYS.ca on my initial list (both Darcy's and D'Arcy's work) and I just noticed someone had placed a preorder at WHC... not exactly my cup of tea right now, but it at least has some potential.

I don't see them getting much of anything, at least nothing I had on my list and WHC's top-end picks on their own list.

MyID got it ALL.

The only positive is that it was a really crappy week and they didn't lose out on anything too valuable. But man, preordering with WHC is like playing Russian Roulette.

I think, like last week, that is more a byproduct of WHC screwing the pooch again.

With a $60 min MyID is only really active in the first round, but WHC offers a $20 price point so when they aren't firing on all cylinders some of the small guys pick up the slack.
 
This is quite a weird Thursday, as the TBR list was so incredibly bad that I won 100% of my meagre domain selections (not hard when you only order a few junkers :D ) and am involved in exactly ZERO auctions.

I really hope that next week is better in terms of quality...
