Interesting that dot-ca-registry.ca picked up 3 ahead of MyId today, in 2nd, 3rd and 4th position.

Hype.ca with all the hype was registered as the day's 7th domain.

Of all the registrations today, fondationfranco-ontarienne.ca made me wonder the most, followed by northernpublicaffairs.ca, lymphovenous-canada.ca, gesummitfeministrecovery.ca, and weirdwildandwonderful.ca.

Yes it was weird, wild and wonderful indeed! and of course all the hype.
 
Malls was caught by Siber. Maybe I’m wrong but didn’t that one go for a very high amount back many years ago? Caught by Pool? Maybe I’m thinking of a different name but I was thinking somewhere in the low 5 figures. Again, maybe I’m thinking of a different name.
 
You’re right it does sound familiar. But I think I may be thinking of .com that sold for six figures.

As for me I got the one I wanted and a couple others and I am quite content!!
 
Went 2/3...the one I lost was "hype"

But I was just a spectator for that one :)

I picked up a domain in auction today for a client for under $500 that had been owned for years by a domainer and my client would have paid up to $5,000 to purchase it (via negotiated acquisition) had the domainer not let it drop. I am not surprised the domainer dropped the domain; it's not a domain one would expect there to be much interest in, but in this case a motivated buyer (finally) came along right before the domain expired, and so I told my client to wait and see if the domain would drop, which I didn't expect it to do (I thought the domainer was just leaving renewals until last possible moment), and the domain dropped.

Anyone know how much hype ended selling for?
 
Not bought by me, but I thought veterinarian.ca was a decent deal. I sold the plural .com veterinarians.com, for $400,0000 USD back in the day. I think the singular is better.

Wow..that's a cool sale. Nice to see the domain being used. Some have not been developed after paying in six figures, even in the .CA space.

I agree, the singular sounds nicer, but the plural works for the purpose it was purchased.
 
at least I think (hope) it wasn't one of mine, haven't been letting many names drop lately in .ca. There is always money made and money "lost" in these TBR's. Obviously in the hotly contested domains like hype.ca, but also in the ones with one bidder and even in the leftovers nobody wants sometimes. I'm sure many of us have gotten names as the sole bidder, or picked up a leftover, and sold in later for x,xxx or higher. But most are probably still in my portfolio waiting for the right buyer. :)

My two biggest fears in domaining are letting a name drop that gets used by a big company later on, or grossly underselling a name. But these things can happen.

I liked Karma as well. That one would have went for a bit I think if it was caught by Siber or MyId.

Lol, I think Bill just caused all of us to look at what we dropped to see if it was picked up in TBR. Doesn't look like it was me either, whew!
