I hope no body is competing with me on "tooembarrassedtobeembarrassedaboutmyembarrassments.ca"
and hope it does not get into an auction.

Well if you’re a new domainer looking to purchase a .CA portfolio of generic one word domains I guess this is your week. Unfortunately I don’t believe the majority of them are a good long term investment.

It's always smart to remember that these 2000-era one-word domains have been on sale (through Afternic, GD, etc.) for 20 years with no takers. That's one way I figured out the root cause in 2020, by reverse-engineering the domains to marketplace accounts.

That doesn't mean they won't sell, but it's also not like these domains were hidden away in someone's closet all this time.

Kamala maybe, but no plurals for me - I experimented with a few very popular female first-names + S that seemed to have a lot of use, but none sold and there was absolutely no interest at all with outbound. Fool's Gold.

Canada has a small population, so use the 10% rule to your advantage.

When it comes to First Names, here are my personal guidelines, 1) only register popular first-names, 2) stick to singular names, and 3) female names are far superior to male names.

Remember that in this market, you are mostly going for a professional who depends on their name value for publicity and advertising (i.e a realtor), who may want to own their first name for a personal-business website.

Agreed I don’t like owning plural names unless I own singular and then there’s no harm to me. I can easily just lump it in the domain sale. I have a few domains like that where it’s a premium generic and I own the plural as well. Would I go out of my way to get the plural? Not likely.

Holy crap, the domainer money be flowing like a river this week. I can't even imagine what the auctions will look like.

Upon closer examination, today's drop looks more like that 1990 Northern Pikes song " She ain't pretty she just looks that way". Tons of generics, but the majority are not commercially viable. Still a better than average drop, but not an earthshaker.

I totally agree, and like I've said before, the vast majority of these "hot" domains have been listed for sale on Afternic/GoDaddy forever, and with no buyers. A lot of Fool's Gold floating around and I am astounded by the pre-auction bidding activity.

Money is definitely flowing like a river, and I hope it doesn't drown anyone.

One that NP got me is in my account already

If this keeps up, I can't even imagine how many domains will be taken this week - 200 easy... maybe 250, more?

I was pretty spot on with the numbers as there were 255 domains picked this week.

I can't even bear to look at my Siber account, as I know I got hammered on most of them, but I still hold out hope on maybe 2-3 coming through, as well as one sneaky-good one I've crossed my fingers and toes for.

i guess I gotta look sometime...

Hoooboy! I managed to win 5 outright, including my "sneaky good" one that I literally had rated second on my algorithm-based "Top Picks List".

Now I need to go buy a lottery ticket.

But damn, I just got the Siber email and my Auction List needed 3 scrolls down to complete. :D

Why is Sibername results only showing names picked up by their registrar? My God....it keeps getting worse.
