Only seeing min bid level stuff too. Might take a stab, but if they go to auction I'm out

Damn, if I whittle down my list any more I'll be into next week before I know it.

After further analysis, I just can't justify even mid-bids on some of this junk.

If we want to get technical here....

As domain owners get more informed to the value of domains we should see less and less valuable domains hitting TBR.

So basically anyone not interested in a domain anymore may attempt to list it on a marketplace to make at least a little bit of money.

So in theory the TBR lists should be getting worse over time and not better.

Maybe we are starting to see that happening and what one would call a junk list is in reality domain owners hanging on to their valuable domains.

That is so true. Gone are the days when you could recover a domain or two, in case it fell through the cracks, when renewal time came. Everyone has realized it and it's becoming harder and harder to find quality domains in the regular weekly drops. Sure there are a few that shows up each week, but one has to wait for those major drops that happen only a few times each year these days.

I think that has been happening for a decade or more. The quality of TBR's today is nowhere near what it was 10 years ago. I think Frank Schilling once said back in the day there are maybe 1.5 - to 2 million .com's worth owning ( I believe he meant generic/saleable domains). Now that may have been a little low, but even if you brought it up to 2.5M to 3M for .com, that gives you go the idea of the number of valuable .ca's - and.ca is no .com. Dot ca's are not my main business but I dabble enough to keep my head in the game this past 23 years. :)

Other than the random TBRs where domainer is "getting out" or got sick or ran into financial issues or.. died, you are correct. 99.9% of any TBR list is junk, but this week we're teetering very close to 100%.

But I also think we're due for a market correction from our current 250-300+ picks per week and 4-figure auctions on any remotely attractive .CA domain. This pandemic/work-at-home bubble is absolutely unsustainable for .CA, no question there.

Hmmmm.. if then, no point wasting time.

Absolutely. I am waiting to see that drop to the usual 120-140 range. But then, there seems to be a few who still have some dough left in their account to pick them up and when a domain is marked "Hot" obviously it is causing some excitement.

Let's see how much longer this could continue without anyone getting seriously hurt. Well, that is the case in every market, be it Stocks, Crypto, NFTs or even the Bond Markets.

I think it's started already, as I've been noticing prices on semi-premiums dropping considerably. Like Internship last week - it was red-hot and bid up to $200 pre-auction and I was prepared for it to blow up at auction... but it went absolutely nowhere.

People are starting to realize that buying domains is a LOT easier than selling them, and seem to be adjusting their auction ceilings accordingly.

WHC/Siber got Bauer and MyID got Eager. probably the two domains that everyone was following.

The "usual" pre-pandemic TBR pick total would be in the 50-80 range, with ~100 being a pretty good week and anything over 100 being chockfull of LLLs and premium words.

How soon we forget... :D

Seems like Sibername has been sending some screwed up emails today. Did anyone else have similar issues? Have written to them already and waiting on them to rectify them.

Same here [notify]Eby[/notify]

It's says I'm in auction for 3 but whois shows Siber only caught 1 of the names

Thanks for confirming it [notify]Spex[/notify] Sad to see the standards sinking at Sibername rapidly. Is it because of WHC distancing it.

Yep, I got one too and reported it to Frank.

I can confirm this is the case and we're looking into it. Thank you [notify]DomainRecap[/notify] and [notify]Eby[/notify] for reaching out.

I received a prompt response from Sibername assuring that they are looking into it.

With Frank on the job I'm confident the situation will be resolved to our satisfaction...

But if I'm wrong....

Too bad after close to 3 hours, there has been no new updates. It’s as simple as letting one know that the domain he/she requested was picked up and has been assigned to the account or placed in an auction rather than to be told that it wasn’t captured when it was and to be notified and placed in an auction when some other Registrar captured it and the domain already assigned to a registrant. Frustrating indeed!!

Hopefully we'll get word tomorrow that the situation has been cleared up, and that any domain wins are now in your account cart and any erroneous auctions have been corrected.

I agree it's all a bit disconcerting, as we put work into this and domains represent at least a portion of many livelihoods on here.

But on the positive side, Siber and WHC do have full control of the domains they won on the TBR this week, so at some point this should all get figured out and we can get back to complaining about the quality of this week's list.

We're working on this still and yes the CIRA results are the correct results, this will get sorted out. Please accept my apologies for the delay. The issue only affected Sibername.
