TBR Musings - May 18, 2022 (2.Viewing)

I too received an invoice just now. Thanks to [notify]MapleDots[/notify], [notify]jaydub[/notify] and [notify]silentg[/notify] for letting me know of their situation also.

Seems like it’s growing pains at WHC at the moment.

MyID removed Paypal payment option. Only e-transfer option available.

As an e-commerce site owner, I try to give my customers MORE ways to pay, not less; especially if it encourages them to purchase more or more often or is more convenient for them.

PayPal has become a real hassle lately. I had $xx,xxx put on hold last summer and it was just released in February after a hundred or so emails were sent. Keep in mind this is a fully verified business account in good standings receiving close to 20 transactions daily.

God forbid you lose a few disputes (which is inevitable since PayPal always sides with the buyer) and you're looking at a 25% rolling reserve on every transaction.

The only reason I continue using it is because it's a popular payment method. It would be dropped in a heartbeat if I couldn't afford to wait on funds.

While that is true, PayPal is brutal. I refused to work with them any more like a decade ago. If I am forced to make payment through paypal, I pay by CC as a guest - I will not have an account or log into my old account. They can fuck off.

I've heard paypal reversing charges months later. Imagine you sell a high priced TBR domain and two months later the domain gets transferred away and the next day Paypal reverses a charge and you have zero recourse. When I quit paypal, you couldn't even talk to a human, everything is automated, including their judge/jury/executioner type decisions without the facts and yes, they side with the customers despite the fact the customers are the scam artists.

The scammers know the loopholes, they will abuse them until Paypal does something about it, and they won't do anything about it until enough merchants who they are effing-over finally quit. So if MyID is cancelling Paypal, that is alright by me.

Hopefully you have better luck! But a domain is more easily hidden and liquidated for cash, so its ripe for scammers.

I took paypal on my ecommerce site and it was brutal, you deliver the goods, you get a delivered receipt and paypal charges you back. The client says its not what they ordered and I say how the hell can that be. It is exactly the item, label, everything as on your invoice.

I think I wasted 10k at paypal before I stopped using them. Now as a client I love paypal, if something is not right I get my money back pronto. Mind you I would never abuse that but I ordered a vintage board game off ebay for $600 bucks and it showed pristine. When I got it it looked like someone had sat on it.

Paypal was lickety split and I had my finds back in my account.

Just in time for Dental.ca

Dental is still at MyID holding account. Still waiting for payment to clear?

Bets.ca payment cleared and has a simple landing page with cira contact link.

I don't think there's a snowball's chance in hell I'd use a virtual dentist.
Imagine trying to shove your camera into your mouth to show the dentist what tooth is hurting? *ROFL*

That being said, Visibly (I believe it used to be called Opertnative) offers virtual eye exams that have been proven to be just as effective as a regular visit to the optometrist. Sadly b&m optometrists went on a smear campaign and got politicians to lobby against it...

I would have expected a much cleaner looking contact page for the money spent.

OMG, wonder what the highest TBR sale ever was?

There were probably higher back in the heyday, but of a more recent vintage, this is the highest I've seen.
