Can someone explain to me what's going on here, and what the purpose/objective would be?

Simply visit the domain to see what's going on.

It also says "Just a Test' in the browser tab when viewed on desktop.

I'm rather certain this is a bad idea, even if it is a test, so I won't include any screenshots.

I just visited on my iPhone and it looks like a regular site to me.

You guys don't see a problem with this?

I see the same thing, and it certainly does looks like a regular site... except that it's BBC's website.

If you visit the actual BBC site you'll see it's the exact same, and the domain gets updated in real time with the BBC site. The only difference between the two "was" that the real BBC website had ads, whereas the vil domain didn't. I'm 100% certain there were previously zero ads on the .ca, when viewed on desktop anyway. But today, a couple days later, there are ads regardless of what device you use.

Is this mirroring, or are they just forwarding their domain to BBC, and masking the domain (or something like it)? Back to my original question: what's going on here and what would be the purpose/objective?

Great catch. Good eye indeed. May be someone found a better way to monetize? Anyone willing to share details?

I see what you are saying now. There is indeed something fishy going on with it.

Maybe someone found a way to mirror a site but somehow put their own ads on there?
