Some people are reporting that domainers are renewing or purchasing domains at Epik trying to use up their masterbucks. Some are reporting even though it shows transaction completed the domains or renewals are not actually completed.

Time to just transfer everything out. Now... And Good luck!

Epik specialized in domainers and carries some massive catalogs.

I will be upfront and tell you I bought a fair sized catalog and figured I had lots of time to decide what to do because a lot of the domains were registered for 3 years. That's why I bought them, I figured if they did not sell by then I would drop a lot of them.

Absolutely insane I have to think about spending more money now. The catalog had a few choice ones but a lot of meh ones and this puts me in a predicament with hundreds of domains. I think the previous owner had already used his master bucks to extend the dates.

Ugh

What's the story with Epik & .CA domains? I'm hoping Epik isn't actually in control of any .ca domains and that they were just white labeling a CIRA certified registrar on the backend (Hexonet / CentralNIC ?)

bummer... just when you're on vacation and didn't want to have to think about something like this...

I haven’t received a penny from Epik yet. Brian Royce was supposed to make best efforts to pay me the $91000 they owe me for Candida.com by tomorrow, January 31. I went to the local FBI field office today to meet with an FBI agent. They actually met with me in person.

Agent came down to the lobby to get me, gun on his hip, took me up to the 5th floor offices. I had to go through a metal detector before we could meet and share all of the documentation that I have with Brian Royce and Epik.

Domain Name Wire gets roasted in the comments of this article:
Epik updates: layoffs and technical issues - Domain Name Wire | Domain Name News
I respect Andrew a lot, but I made a comment there. I don't think that type of article is helpful.

I did however provide a specific set of questions that Brian Royce needs to answer.
This is not a comprehensive list, but a starting point.

While Andrew has been one of the only people to cover this story, Brian Royce should not be allowed to flippantly dismiss the seriousness of these issues in two paragraphs.

As far as the FBI investigating, I am sure they will be especially interested in the interstate commerce involving electronic payments aspect of this.

The namepoos thread is an extremely good resource on what is actually going on.

I feel so bad for people caught up in this mess - some have lost life-changing amounts of money.

I never trusted Rob Monster & Co, but I never dreamed he would do anything like this or that it would go this deep.

Ugh, I want to agree that epik and monster need to be taken down and out of business, but a gofundme already?? I hate that entire concept, ugh. gimme a break.
Well, desperate people have limited options. I am not a GoFundMe fan, but I understand it.

This domain was "sold" over 4 months ago.

I am not sure what I would do if Epik pilfered my one good domain, then left me holding the bag.
I hope accountability comes for these victims.

Agreed, I truly hope so too, and I hope it comes at the personal cost to Monster because that's where it all starts, and that new CEO can never justify continuing to collect new funds to pay preferred creditors full well knowing he is screwing these people over. That's called a Pyramid Scheme. I hope he goes down too.

Luckily the guy has been demonstrating very publicly for years now that he has a few loose screws. People should have noticed, you didn't really need a crystal ball to know that some crap was going to go badly eventually for that company. The whole Masterbucks concept made me shudder from the start. You might make up some BS like that for rewards points, but not in place of actual currency. I'm not claiming to be Nostradamus here, but, there were signs everywhere.
