Has DNForum.com been sold? - The domain is pending transfer (2.Viewing)

They really just terminated his account.

I could not imagine a more disastrous start to new ownership.

Helmuts can't handle criticism. He asks for feedback then does what he wants anyway, while whining about being harassed.

I am sure this is going to play well with the handful of dedicated members that remain.

I think they are overvaluing signatures a bit, we give them for free and not a lot of member use them.

The valid point above is that signatures don't show in mobile but that is not 100% accurate either because it will display if you turn the phone sideways. I hide a number of elements on mobile to keep the small screen focused but soon our signatures will display on mobile. That is a project I was working on that has so far been put on the back burner.

I am always coding on the forum, you might not notice everything but barely a day goes by when I am not tweaking or making changes so things look good on all screen sizes.

This has made me curious - I have to admit that I never really participated much on DNForum. How can I tell what type of membership I have? What is "Level 4"?

As for the deleted accounts - completely ridiculous. If I were Theo and my account got deleted, I'd want to make sure they take down my content, too, so they don't benefit from it.

I am a "Level 5". I have no idea what that means.
I have not even logged in since 2016.

I am at level 5 as well and I had an upgraded membership.

It's probably a number assigned when they removed the membership titles.

Probably does not mean much at the moment but then I could be wrong because my signature is still showing there.

All that said...

I truly hope they work it out, the industry is being swallowed up by giants and we need all the private resources we can get.

The first thing he did was try to take away features and charge an absurd amount of money on both DNF & Acorn Domains.

There is obviously a disconnect between the actual value of what he owns and his perceived value.

He is really coming off poorly with his actions so far.

He has come in more like a dictator. Sorry, no criticism or dissent is allowed or your account gets banned.

Literally no one is going to pay $750/year for a signature and badge on DNF.

Helmuts only hope at this point is to make a full (sincere) apology, and do a complete about face...and hope that is enough. Even with that, it might already be too far gone.

It probably would have been a lot more productive if Helmuts came in, and kind of had a focus group with the top 10 active members and asked them for feedback.

Instead he kind of just arrived on the scene, with his my way or the highway attitude.

That is never going to work with an inactive domain forum. It also makes him look incredibly thin skinned by not being able to handle valid criticism, even after asking for feedback.

I have no idea who owns DigitalCandy.com now and the old name has switched to some generic management domain which is so forgettable I cannot remember it.

Whatever value there was in the name DigitalCandy has probably been destroyed.

Then you have Candy.com which makes things even more weird.

FYI, the UDRP referenced was from five years ago. Ancient history.

DigitalCandy is now domainmanage.com which in my opinion is too generic.
