TBR Drop - Feb 25, 2026 (30.Viewing)

I think as of late I've been just pumping up some of the domains so they overpay for it....

I am reminded of the saying "What goes around, comes around"

On godaddy auctions you can find SEO domains for less and with better metrics, I really don't understand who's paying for .ca's that much just for gambling links...

This has been a head scratcher for almost everyone here. Will the winner stand up please??

Why would you bid someone up just to make them pay more?

Because we're assholes.

But personally I only bid up to the point where I'm comfortable buying at, but I do drop out suddenly whenever I feel I'm being played, and a good portion of second-place bids at WHC come from me. I get that spider-sense tingle and I'm out of there quicker than a NY commuter being chased by crack addicts.

Maybe they only get commissions for Canadian traffic? I think everyone in the US is gambling anyway so these gambling heathens might want to expand into "new markets", like Innuits and people who live in Winnipeg.

BM auctions are over and I just knew maryanne.ca wouldn't go over $200 and I still have no idea why it went that high in the first place. Oh well, as least brooklynwarehouse.ca (a lower-end traffic domain) went for $350 so the gamblers are still active.

I was surprised to see that domain drop in the first place, because it was owned by one of our elite colleagues.

I am now wondering if the back link buyers are thinking the same of us - as gamblers. They at least have a plan to make a kill in the next 12-24 months, but we sometimes sit on a domain for multiple years.

That makes me wonder who the real gamblers are!! 🤔

I thought about it and it's them, the gambling link magnates, ruling over their seriously-addicted clientele like a Russian oligarch.

And I don't see me buying 'First Name + s" domains like Johns.ca as gambling per se; it's more like throwing money away. (y)
