My email is a little different, I guess because I have a LTO at DAN. The language isn't very clear though. If I opt-out, the LTO continues as per usual. But if I don't, it make take up to 3 months to get my payments from Afternic?

Guess I'll be replying to get some additional info

We're writing to share an important update about your Dan.com account.

As you might know, Dan.com joined the GoDaddy family in July 2022. Since then, we've been working alongside the team from Afternic, GoDaddy's leading domain marketplace, to merge our two platforms into one.

To give you an even better experience, we'll be migrating your account to Afternic, offering you enhanced exposure and greater sales potential. This migration will automatically begin in 28 days, unless you choose to manually opt-in or opt-out before the October 15th deadline.

To help with the migration, we're excited to launch the Migration Center, where you can:

• Migrate manually: Take control of the migration process to create a new Afternic account, or merge with your existing one.
• Opt out: You can choose to opt out of migrating to Afternic, but after October 15th, your domain listings will be removed, and no new sales will be possible through Dan.com after October 15th. Opting out means that your Lease to Own transactions will continue to be paid out by Dan.com.
• Download your data: Invoices, transactional data, and more can be exported through the Migration Center.

By moving to Afternic, your domain sales agreement will be converted to USD, which may impact any relevant taxes. You can expect any successful Lease to Own transactions to appear in your Afternic account between November and December as we complete the migration process.

We're excited to take the next step in our journey with you! If you have any questions or need assistance, head to our FAQs, or contact us. We're here to help!

Best regards,
Dan.com

Are there any viable alternatives to Afternic for .CA, where the marketplace has a registrar that can seamlessly transfer .CA domains to a holding account and then back to the buyer?

Sedo can't do this and a lot of other marketplaces can't as well, but I'm hoping a few of the new entrants can.

I think I need to take a month off selling to regroup and determine my best path forward.

I really can't rely on Afternic and their merry band of overworked brokers as my primary marketplace, as right now they take 2-3 days to post a "Contacted Buyer" update and I can't imagine performance is going to get faster when Dan us formally killed off and a pile of new domains flood in.

Without any method self-negotiation, domain investors are going to lose a ton of sales by using Afternic, as these guys are already slow as molasses in January, and it will only get slower with the increased buyer demand. Buyers do not want to wait days or weeks for a single broker update and they'll quickly lose interest on anything by premiums.

At Dan the mantra was "Strike while the iron's hot" while at Afternic it's "Slow and steady wins the race".

Try racing a Tortoise and a Hare in real life and see which one wins.
