It would be interesting to find out who the culprit was.

It could be CD, as their system is woefully inadequate for the current level of traffic and placing late TBR orders or auction bids is like playing Russian Roulette. Somebody definitely needs a new server/host.

But this was a bit different, as it was totally locked.

@CatchDrop And magically, now that the auction is over, the pages load again. You're leaving money on the table if you let these results stand.

Well I'm sure you can squarely point the finger at one of the winners of those auctions. Stellar? Veerji?

I someone actually stressed their server out to win an auction, then I'd put my money on Stellar at 2-1, with Veerji being a dark horse at 10-1.

I'm calling foul on your auctions today!!!
The last 5 minutes of the auction, it appears your servers were hit by a DDOS attack or something. it will not load any pages in order to bid!
Please do a do-over.

I cannot even load a page.

Dear CatchDrop Users,

We are aware of the issue that occurred today during the Auction that resulted in many users not being able to place bids.

CatchDrop has been for the last 3 days in the process of server migration as we have outgrown our current servers which are of a pretty good size but nonetheless due to more & more heavy traffic, new user sign ups and overall much more activity we have expanded greatly and our full migration should be completed in the next 1-2 days.

Due to this issue and to the multiple requests from users to do a RE-DO we will cancel the 14 auctions that ended today and will restart so that
every CatchDrop user gets a fair chance of placing their bids.

All current bids will remain in place as they were, we will only redo the auctions and they will end Wednesday May 03, 2023.

The CatchDrop Team

How is that possible? I put in single bids for weeks and none of them ever get picked up by you guys or anyone.

I ended up hand-registering them all during WHC/Rebel sales instead, and I just gave up on your service as it seemed to need 2+ bids to register.
Browsing through these old post and thought would be nice for you to share with all how possible it was and is to catch as many domains you caught for below cost registration price. CatchDrop has been acquiring for you domains on a regular basis below cost price yet alth you post on this forum 19 hours a day not once have you mentioned anything positive regarding your reaps from CatchDrop ! šŸ™„

Maybe he does not want divulge his edge, it keeps his costs down. :)

If he were to say he got all these great deals then others would join in and bid them up.

I know a lot of domainers are tight lipped because of that so the answer is for CatchDrop to do exactly was done today. Make public announcements and advertise the deals. Ultimately it will drive the prices up and even though some domainers would look at that as a negative for purchases, it would bid well for everyone on resale and might help drive up the value of .ca's.

Well, I know where you're coming from, but also I understand where he's coming from. If you find an edge, you don't go blabbing about it. If you've ever watched Survivor you know that telling others about your secret advantage always bites you in the arse!

So not speaking up is one thing. But if anyone was publicly disparaging catchdrop and secretly utilizing you at the same time, that'd be different.

And BTW, thanks for doing the right thing and re-running the bad auctions. I know it is obviously in your benefit to do that anyways, but thanks none-the-less.

After you fixed this bug/problem with these orders processing, I clearly stated that I won a few the next week. Go back and check. As to why you're quoting an ancient post like this is anyone's guess.

And I don't highlight the individual stats of where I won stuff each week, as I make use of multiple TBR registrars, and I don't see anyone else doing it either.

I'd better get back to work, since as you stated, I only have 5 hours free from the DN forums so I'd better make use of it.

I don't see anyone else posting an itemized list of TBR domains they won at each registrar each week. Do you?

After CD fixed the bug that was not allowing my orders to process, I let them know I had won a few domains that week and I thought that was my sole public duty. But I guess I'm obliged to post itemized Excel files each week.

Hey, trust me when I say, I have an extensive catalog I don't talk about either, I've had many copy cats when I revealed my niche domains.

Just wondering if anyone else can Sort Columns at CD for Auctions and TBR Listings? Like Time, Price, # Bids, etc.?

It's never worked for me, but I'm wondering if I'm the only one or if it works on another browser?
