So if I'm reading the other thread correctly, that "domain will be locked" notice is not for .CA, but for other gTLDs that may have different change requirements.

When I have a free minute I'm going to test it out and then view the WHOIS to see if it's been locked.

I tested it, it does not lock but the wording needs to be changed for clarification.

Where did the "RENEW" link on the "You have X Domains expiring within the new 7 days" Dashboard Notice disappear to? It was soooo useful and all there is now is a lame notice without a link or action to take.

It doesn't make a lot of sense to keep the renewal notice banner yet delete the 1-click RENEW button - Notice the "Oh no you got outbid" banner still has the BID NOW button. What's up?

I was certain that RENEW link was still there early on in the Beta, but now it's totally gone and I'm not impressed. I am so used to it, that I really have no idea how to quickly (one-click) get to a pre-sorted list of domains that need to be renewed.

And I also miss the "X days expired/X days til expiry" notice that used to be on the Renewal list - man, there sure seems to be a LOT of graphical improvements, but a commensurate loss in terms of functional and informational features.
Good points. I also thought we had the link at one point, but I've taken a note for us to re-add this and link it to a view that filters the domains and sorts them by ascending expiry date. Previously, we had a separate renewal view, so it might not entirely be easy to add the "days left count", but I'll look into this.

It doesn't lock - but I have a bit more of a complex plan as you can opt-out of the lock for gTLDs, that's why I haven't updated anything here yet. I might go with a text change first, but don't want to make the text longer.

Thank you and that would make things a lot easier under the new UI.

This one is not such a big deal, as WHC no longer has multiple domain views right? Previously it was indispensable (as expired and pending delete were not present in the standard domain view) but now that everything shows up equally, date sorting should be enough.

On another note, it doesn't look like your system supports WHOIS profiles and if I wanted to make a change to my WHOIS addresses, it looks like I would need to change each and every domain manually. I always thought it was whatever was in my Profile at WHC, but apparently not.

I ask because my old address is still on many domains (probably from an old transfer that had old data) as well as some with "Privacy" addresses on them (again from transfers from registrars using privacy). - if I want to change these erroneous WHOIS records back to my WHC profile is there an easy way of doing this?
You can change this with the bulk contact changes in our new client area, but we're looking to improve on this further. Contact management across a number of TLDs often is a big mess because of all the varying requirements, but it's something we still want to improve on further.

P.P.S. It also seems that we have lost the original Registration/Transfer Date and now only have Renewal Date (as well as dropping the original purchase price) - is this gone forever or is there somewhere to view it?
I do think we should at least show it on the domain details page, I'll take note to try to get this added. For the domain overview, we ultimately want customizable columns.

Yeah, I definitely like to know exactly how much money I wasted on TBR domains and when.:D

I actually found the Original Purchase Price field useful, as when I got an offer I would go there to see how much I laid for it, and I was always "What the heck, I paid $WHAT$ for that?"

One thing I've noticed on the "New Client Area" is that the Archived Backorders section can take hours to update after the auction, while I still can go to the "Old Client Area" and easily see how much money I've given WHC and mentally prepare myself.

No idea why, when the info is there on the old client, it takes sooooo long for the new client to display that same info.

And yes, I have closed down/refreshed/cleared cache and it doesn't change a thing, while the old client displayed this week's auction results immediately after loading it, so it's definitely an interface/update issue with the new system.

Thanks, good feedback. I think I know why this is - I'll try to find a way for this to work the same way, but first, let me get my power back at home ;-).

But seriously, I'll look into a fix, but it might take a moment.

Quite a storm huh? I almost got impaled by a huge sheet of thick ice that melted off a building today.

Glad that didn't happen. Yes, I feel this got worse than I expected... Hydro and the city cleared/trimmed some of our trees lately, but apparently, this wasn't good enough. But I remember it looked really bad in Ottawa when I visited after the big storm they had - @richard.schreier can tell you stories about that.

And I was in Quebec/the US for the big ice storm in 1998, but didn't live here yet a the time, so it was more like an adventure back then.

@FM Thanks for adding the "Renew Now" link to the expiring domains notifications. Awesome work!

Thanks for noticing the updates before I get around to posting them ;)

@FM , I noticed a problem I never had before. One of my domains is on 1-day grace but it doesn't allow me to select that domain to mass-renew a series of domains. There doesn't seem to be any way to mix and match Grace domain renewals with Soon-to-Expire renewals in a single transaction, as the checkbox is greyed out.

Even when I try to do it 2 steps, only the most recent selection sticks in my cart so I guess I'll need to do 2 separate transactions. It also means that for every domain on Grace Period, I'll need to do a separate transaction for each domain???

I liked the "old" system better as it treated Grace Period domains the same as Soon-to-Expire domains and you could combine them.

Is this a limit of the new system?

We just made a few changes to the filters; maybe this was an unintentional result. Generally speaking, I would want you to be able to bulk renew any domain but not allow some other transactions for domains in grace/redemption.

Thank you for pointing this out @DomainRecap , I'll take a closer look at this. I'm looking at bulk changes/transactions in general at the moment and am trying to map out what we're still missing.

Yeah, once I realized that if you had 20 domains on Grace Period, you would need to create 20 different transactions, I realized this was probably just a mistake.

I'm pretty sure I grouped them before, but now for expired/grace domains, the checkbox is greyed out for anything on the Domains screen.

This same renewal problem is still happening.

I let a couple of domains fall into grace yesterday and now when I go to renew them I still get the same "greyed out" list of domains on the New System that need to be on individual transactions. So back to the Old System I go to renew my names.

Yes, this hasn't been fixed yet, but is still on our list.
